NEWSLETTER & PRODUCTS UPDATE
15 September 2008

First, thank you so much to those ladies who contacted me about the job at the shop, and if you're there on Fridays please say "hi" to Karlene, and on Saturdays Cathy's smiling face will greet you. They're both talented scrappers and you can admire their work inside and outside the shop.

This is a brief one - we're redecorating my study/office - I say "we" because I chose the paint, furniture, fabric, etc - it was exhausting - but Ian's actually wielding the paintbrush while I make tea and encouraging noises. If I don't say "lovely" at ten minute intervals, he winds down like an old clock. Speaking of which ....

CLASS KIT - "Dad's Clock "

I've liked all Jodi's projects for these kits, but I love this one passionately - the colours, cutouts - the whole thing. The kit will be online for purchase by Tuesday p.m. - this is perfect as a Christmas gift (and I have three boys and have put the youngest's photo in the lower part of the "a" - it works as long as it's a close-up).

JUST IN

You saw the photos in the last newsletter so let me just remind you that KaiserCraft's SIX Christmas paper ranges are now in and they're gorgeous, as are all the bits and bobs to go with them - unfortunately the wooden flourishes have been delayed. The Wish Upon paper range doesn't look good as a thumbnail but is really very pretty - make sure you look at the big picture. There's also a great selection of off-the-page products, perfect for Christmas gifts.

Such sweet stuff from Daisy D - books of rubons, metal embellishments and metal brads for a boy or girl - this goes with that (does anyone else remember that dress shop ad or is it just me with the wretched thing going round and round in my head?)

COMING SOON

Woo hoo! The divine Miss M does it again. This range shipped on Friday from the US so watch the site around the end of the week.

I'm truly, hopelessly, completely smitten. This is simply divine.
And look at the embellishments! Marah Johnson rules.
Since I was placing an order, I couldn't resist these ridiculously sweet butterfly brads - they won't be cheap but with six in a pack you can share.
Also on its way - some great Cosmo Cricket rubons and these scallop-edged velvet ribbons. There are also scallop-edged velvet ribbons coming with the Marah Johnson order in lots of lovely colours.

You loved these last time so here are the latest - Glitter Cuts from Fancy Pants - the sweetest little transparencies, delicately glittered.

I don't know what you call this stuff, but I call it bobble trim and I just love it!

Yumbo scrumbo - the Fancy Pants Christmas range, Happy Holidays - love those cards that you can tear or cut.

REMINDER

We can now order any of the great chipboard from ScrapFX - words, customised books, fabulous shapes (just look at all those flourishes in Cass's layouts), even the names of sports teams (of course, I've never heard of any of them but I'm sure you have), individual letters of the alphabet, or even a mixed bag of letters and numbers and YOU choose which you want. Check it out under Custom Orders. These beautiful clock faces are two of their latest designs (and more new designs will be on the site this week)

KaiserCraft Workbooks - Also a reminder - you can now access thumbnails of all KaiserCraft's projects and then click the link to see the appropriate KaiserCraft workbook - how easy is that!

HAPPENINGS

In-store - don't forget our late-night crops every second Friday from 6pm to midnight (with pizza, too). Our next crop is Friday, 19 September - bookings essential - call 3274 5522 for your spot.

Sketch Classes - every Saturday from 11am to 1pm, and Wednesday from 6pm to 8pm, Karlene and I will be holding sketch classes - here's how it works: Karlene does a gorgeous layout, I make a sketch of it (and then, sadly, I do my own LO following her sketch) - we give you the sketch and the samples, and you then create your own layout. I found it remarkably liberating - I didn't have to worry about placement, size, how much is just enough - I could focus just on my photos and colours. Another great reason for doing classes this way is that the project can be as simple or as complex as you want, so it suits newbies right through to experienced scrappers who need a bit of inspiration. If you're budget-minded, you can create a thrifty layout, or you can blow a month's scrapping allowance in one hit - you're in charge! Call the shop on 3274 5522 to book a place. (Did I say the classes are free? No? Silly me - they're FREE!)

I also have to say, if Karlene can be so supportive and encouraging that even I would show a LO in public, she can do it for anyone!

Here is the first one we did (click on the thumbnail to see a larger version):

and here is the first layout we'll be using as a sketch (which I haven't copied yet! Maybe this evening)

Watch this space!

Free online magazine subscription - those nice people at Creative Living Media are offering you a free, six month subscription to a choice of online magazines (value $29.95). Who can resist a freebie? Send this link to your friends, even the non-scrappers - they have a craft publication for everyone.

Online Inspiration - in next month's newsletter, you'll see a great LO from a talented scrapper, complete with a list of products used.

AND FOR NO REASON AT ALL

All the best - come say hello at the forum (or even better, come see us at Salisbury)
