MY TEDDY

I remember the day so clearly
When my Father called on me
With a beautiful, fluffy, black eyed bear
That was oh so cuddily.
It was the only gift
He ever gave to me
Before he left us for another
Never again, to see.
I've kept that dear old Teddy
For more then thity years,
We've shared a lot together
laughter, fun and tears.
teddy has been everywhere
That I have ever been
Travelling both together, He was my friend, in deed.
He protected me from danger
When I lived alone
Nothing really bothered me
Just knowing Teddy's home.
As a little girl, I shared with him,
My dreams, he'd listen so contently,
He understood, it seemed.
As the years slipped by
My childhood stayed behind,
Teddy was there with me
Growing, side by side.
Now I have three children
Whom I love so much,
Teddy keeps an eye on them
They feel his gentle touch.
He sits upon my bed now
A little worse for wear,
But when I'm feeling lonely,
I know my Friend is there.
Teddy is my Hero,
He sets a kind of trend,
If I should ever lose him,
I've lost a life long Friend.

I wrote this poem in the '70's. To me, for years, Teddy was the only friend I had.

yeh Cath, it's true and I treasure that Teddy even now. Jodi did the most beautiful LO for me on my teddies with my special one in my arms. he has always been just Teddy to me. I never gave him an official name. And yes, he was my only friend for many years. He was someone I could cry my heart out to, cuddle when I wanted to be cuddled. He was my kids friend also.
